Epic Games is implementing an additional measure to address inappropriate behavior in Fortnite by introducing a new voice reporting feature. This feature enables players to capture audio clips and submit anonymous reports whenever they witness another player violating community rules.

In a recent blog post, Epic disclosed that the voice reporting feature will be automatically active for players under 18 during voice chats. The only ways to avoid audio capture for this age group are either by turning off voice chat entirely or muting their microphone. Players aged 18 and above will have the flexibility to customize their voice chat reporting settings through the audio preferences.

When filing a report, the system uploads the last five minutes of audio, which is then sent to Epic’s moderators for review. Any audio recorded beyond this five-minute window is deleted. Epic emphasizes that the last five minutes of voice chat audio are captured on a rolling basis and are securely stored on the user’s device (PlayStation, Xbox, etc.). Notably, Epic does not retain these clips on its servers.
